OELWEIN — Karoline Stefanovic, 81, died Tuesday morning, June
20. 2004, at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein, after a lengthy illness.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 2, at Zion
Lutheran Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Chads
Combs-Lay officiating. Burial will be in Fontana
Cemetery, Hazleton.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at
the Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, and after 1
p.m. Friday at the church.
Karoline was born Nov. 3, 1922, at Bleiberg,
Austria, the daughter of Valentin and Agnes
(Schoeter) Rink. She married Djura Stefanovic on
June 11, 1948. at Gnadenburg, Germany. She was a
homemaker and mother, along with farming with her husband for many
years near Hazleton.
Survivors include six daughters, Ingeborg (Leonard) Brezina of
Atkins. Krsnianija (Gene) Craig of Mason City, Peladija (Henry) Diers
of Hazleton. Angelina Slefanovic of Opportunity Village in Clear Lake,
Monika (Robert) Roepke of Oelwein, and Sonija (Richard) Stefanovic-
Wessels of West Union; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a
great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Elfriede (Fridel) Moesser of Klagenlurt,
Austria; and a son-in-law, James Folsom of Oelwein.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hinrich Erase; her
second husband, Djura; two daughters, Anneleise Brase and Dobrina
Folsom; a son. Kosta in infancy; a grandson, Les Folsom; a son-in-law,
John Woodson: and her parents.
