printed at Parkers, Kansas. Many of the old neighbors
and friends will remember Elizabeth Corbly who
resided many years in Fremont county, Iowa. She was
sister of E. H. Dickey and Mrs. Luman Foxx.
Mrs. Elizabeth C. Corbly died Monday evening, June 2,
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. A. Steele on
West Kimball street after a lingering illness.
Mrs. Elizabeth C. Dickey was born July 3, 1842 in
Indiana County, Pennsylvania. At the age of 12 she
moved with her parents to Fayette County, Iowa
where she was married to J. D. Corby, March 5, 1861.
They were the parents of six children, two of whom
died in early childhood, both the same week of
membranous croup. Two sons and two daughters
survive her; Mrs. E. A. Steele of this place; G. B. Corby,
Bowles, California; Mrs. A. H. McHarry, Oakland, California;
and L. W. Corby, Eugene, Oregon.
She with her husband and family moved to Missouri in
the fall of 1898, where they lived until last August,
when on account of failing health, she came to Parker
to make her home with her daughter and by whom she
has been tenderly cared for during the months of her
final illness.
Mrs. Corby was raised by Presbyterian parents of the old
school, but in being converted in early in life she with
her husband united with the U. B. church and later with
? church. Her husband passed away March 24, 1903.
A short prayer and song service was held at the Steele home
Wednesday afternoon after which her body, accompanied by
F. A. Steele was taken to Sanger, Calif. to compliance with her
expressed desire for burial beside that of her husband.Oelwein Daily Register - 17 June 1913
