Leonard Blake 1860 - 1905

After a long period of suffering from
cancer, Leonard Blake passed away last
Wednesday afternoon at about 4
o'clock. The last services took place
at the Baptist church Friday afternoon,
Rev. J. C. Jones, of St. Joseph,
Missouri, officiating. Interment was
in the Oelwein cemetery.
Leonard Blake was born near Waterloo.
March 13, I860. In 1888 he was
united in marriage to Miss Laura A.
Schneider. They were the parents of
three children, two sons and a daughter,
who survive him. A wife, mother,
four sisters and a brother. George
Blake, of this city, are left to mourn
his loss. For a number of years he
bad been a consistent member of the
Primitive Baptist church, and he died
in the full consolation of the Christian
faith. He was a member of the Yeomen,
and carried insurance in that order.
Mr. Blake was well known in
this city where he has resided for
about fifteen years, and was held in
high esteem by a large circle of
friends. Sympathy is extended to the
family in their bereavement.
