The remains of Hans Christen
arrived Tuesday noon from Spokane,
Washington, at which place he had
died on Monday. October 11, 1909,
and were taken in charge by members
of the family and conveyed to
his home in the country, east of
town. The funeral services were
held from the Apostolic church Wednesday
afternoon, when a large concourse
of relatives and friends gathered
to pay their last sad respects to
the departed.
Mr. Christen left here September
24, to go to Cashmere, Wash., to
look after the welfare of his brother
in-law's eight children who had just
been left orphans. His wife and
relatives became anxious because
they did not hear from him. A telegram
ascertained the fact that he
had not reached his destination and
search was instituted. Thursday of
last week a telegram was received
which stated that he had died at
Spokane, Wash., on Monday, October
11. The body was shipped to
this place and arrived as above
stated.
Information received regarding
his death is very, meagre and his
personal effects have not yet reached
here. It is hoped word from those
in charge of the body in the western
town will soon be received and tell
of his death and the circumstances
surrounding it.
The community extends heartfelt
sympathy to the sorrowing widow
and child and to the brothers and
sisters and aged step-mother in their
sad bereavement
