BAUMAN, DRAEGER

The word that Mrs. Arnold Bauman
has passed away at her country
home, Monday evening at 9:45
o'clock, although not entirely unexpected,
came as a shock to her many
friends and acquaintances. For six
weeks she had been critically ill, and
for the past two weeks she had constantly
been hovering between life
and death until life's cord parted
and she passed to the great beyond.
Mrs. Arnold Bauman was born in
Pommern, Germany, forty-nine
years ago and died at her home a
short distance from town Monday
evening October 18, 1909. In the
year 1882 she immigrated to this
country and two years later was united
marriage to Arnold Bauman.
Ten children were born to this union
two of whom died at a tender age.
During her last illness she was
carefully nursed by her husband,
children and relatives, and all that
medical skill and loving hands could
do was done to prolong her life and
ease her suffering, but the angel of
death came and she went to her
heavenly home to her Savior by
whose atonement she believed herself
to be reconciled with God. She
was a consistent Christian and a
faithful follower of the Lord's teachings.
At an early age she united
with the German Baptist church and
has ever since been a faithful member
of that denomination.
Deceased was a dutiful wife, a
kind and loving mother and a true
friend. She has lived an upright,
conscientious christian life and although
mother will be sorely missed
about the home, there is consolation
in all this sadness; her spirit is now
with Jesus in whom she believed.
Besides the immediate family of
husband and eight children, deceased
is survived by two brothers, Herman
Draeger, of Oklahoma, and
Fred Draeger, of near Clermont,
and a large number of relatives and
friends.
The funeral services will be held
today (Thursday.) Friends will
gather at the home at one o'clock
and the cortege will then proceed to
the German Baptist church in this
city, where Rev. J. G. Draewel will
conduct the services. Interment
will be made in the Elgin Cemetery.
