Mrs. Josephine Keniston 1853 - 1936

Mrs. H. W. Keniston passed away at 8:45 AM Monday
February 10, 1936 at the age of 82 years, 5 months
and 6 days. She had made her home with her
daughter Mrs. A. R. Miller, 20 Second Avenue, N. W.
since the death of her husband fifteen years ago.

Josephine Ridler, daughter of William and Mary
Ridler, was born in Batavia, state of New York, Sept.
4, 1853. When she was ten years of age the Ridler
family came to Iowa, locating on a homestead about
two miles west of Oelwein. Mrs. Keniston has lived
near or in Oelwein since that time.
On June 7, 1873 she was united in marriage with
Hobert W. Keniston. To this union were born five
children, two of whom have preceded her in death.
Matie aged four having passed on in the year 1890
and Mrs. L. T. Day in 1930.

Those remaining to mourn her passing are three
children, William Keniston and Mrs. A. R. Miller of
Oelwein and Mrs. W. F. George of Waterloo, Iowa.
Also one sister, Mary J. Knight of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
There are eleven grandchildren and eight great
grandchildren'

Two sisters, Mrs. George Teague and Mrs. Peter
Harford and two brothers, W. W. Ridler and F. J. Ridler
preceded her in death. All having lived in or near
Oelwein.

For many years she has been a member of Grace
Methodist Church of Oelwein. She was also a member
of Iowa Banner Cam[ No. 314 of Royal Neighbors and
of the order of Yeomen.

Funeral services were held at the Grace Methodist
church Wednesday at 2:00 pm. Burial was at
Woodlawn Cemetery.
