Ruth T. Eschen 1896-1946

ESCHEN, BROWNELL, MANNING, KAUNE, DAY, METCALF, CLARY

STANLEY - Ruth Tryphena Eschen, daughter of
Grant S. and Ada Manning Browning, was born
August 23, 1896 in Scott township, Fayette county,
Iowa.

In childhood, she with her parents moved to
Stanley where she grew womanhood. In young
girlhood she made a public confession of her faith
in Christ, uniting with the Union church in Stanley.

December 16, 1914 she was united in marriage
with Ernest A. Eschen, their home was established
in Buchanan county where they continued to reside
until her death.

Mrs. Eschen leaves seven children; Mrs. Mildred
Kaune, Randalia; Gordon, Waterloo; Harold, Iowa
City; Willard, Monrovia, Calif.; Melvin in the United
States Army and Vern and Victor at home; nine
grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Inez Day,
Waterloo; Mrs. Florence Clary and Mrs. Dorothy
Metcalf, Pasadena, Calif. and Mrs. Frances Day,
Arlington. One son, Jackie, died in childhood.

Services were held from the Union church Thursday
afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. L. W.
Hauter, pastor of the Presbyterian church, Oelwein.

Casketbearers were Grant Day, Leonard Day, Frank
Brownell, Glen Burrington, Garlo Ehlers and Henry
Michaelis.

Interment was in Woodlawn cemetery, Oelwein.
