John F. Oberfell, aged 67 years, 26 Fourth Avenue NE
died at Mercy Hospital at 2:15 am today, following a
rather extended illness. He has not been well since
being stricken with a severe case of the flu about two
years ago, although he has been at his usual duties as
station agent of the C.R.I.&P most of the time.
Mr. Oberfell has acted in the capacity of agent for the
Rock Island in this city for the past 24 years. He has
a wide circle of friends and acquaintances in the city
where he has so long resided. He leaves a wife and
three daughters, Ruth, Lois and Ethyl, and one son
Fred.
The body will lie in state at the Hintz Funeral Home
until noon Thursday and the funeral will be held at
the Methodist church at 3:30 pm Thursday, Rev.
Witzigman officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
