Intelligence was received here Saturday
of the sudden death of Robert
Darrah at Winnepeg where he was
about to go to work in the railway
shops. Mr. Darrah was formerly foreman
in tho boiler shop of the C. G. W.
in this city, and was popular among
his follow employees and other friends.
His death came as a terrible shock to
his wife who resides in this city. The
remains arrived here Monday night,
and the funeral occured yesterday afternoon
at 2 o'clock. Rev. James Wilson
delivered the discourse, and a
large number of the friends of the
stricken family were in attendance.
Interment was in the Oelwein cemetery.

—The funeral of Robert Darrah yesterday
was under the auspices of the
A. O. U. W. of this city, and they
turned out in force. Almost all the
boilermakers and machinists, beside
beside many other employees of the
C. G. W. shops, were also in attendance,
and over two hundred of the
railway men followed the remains to
the cemetery, as did the members of
the A. O. U. W. Deceased was born
in Dundas, Canada, Oct. 3, 1856. He
was married to Miss Mary Morrow in
Goderick, Ontario, and to them were
born seven children, three of whom
survive him.
