Gerald D. Wickham, 86, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames, Iowa. Funeral services for Gerald D. Wickham will be 3:00 pm Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the First Christian Church, 221 Fischer Avenue, Iowa Falls with Pastor T. J. Norman officiating. In lieu of flowers, Gerald requested memorials be directed to American Legion Post # 188, Iowa Falls. The Linn's Funeral Home Iowa Falls Chapel is handling the arrangements.

Gerald Dale Wickham was born October 25, 1923, at Iowa Falls Iowa, the son of Grace M. [Stipp] and Ernest G. Wickham. He graduated from the Iowa Falls High School with the class of 1942. He served with the United States Navy as a Fire Controlman serving in the Philippines, Okinawa, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign. He also sang in the Navy Choir on the radio. On October 2, 1949, Gerald was united in marriage to Lenora M. Reynolds Ducommun in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Gerald started his employment with Clifton's Supermarket, Iowa Falls, Iowa Falls DX Station, Bahr-LeMoind Electric, Loveless Plumbing and Heating all of Iowa Falls and then on to Young Plumbing and Heating in Oelwein, Iowa. He retired from Donaldson Company Incorporated, Oelwein in 1982. After his wife's death in 1992, Gerald was united in marriage to Ellen A. Daleske on October 16, 1999, at the First Christian Church, Iowa Falls. Gerald was actively involved in the Iowa Falls American Legion Post #188, the Iowa Falls Historical Society, the Hardin County Historical Society. the Franklin County and Iowa Genealogy Societies, and was a life Member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars. One of Gerald's greatest accomplishments was the Iowa Falls Veteran's Memorial on Foster Boulevard in Iowa Falls.

Gerald D. Wickham is survived by his son: David E. [Carol] Ducommun of Woodridge, Illinois; his daughter: Martha Cunningham of Winterset, Iowa; two grandchildren: Deven Ducommun Chicago, Illinois and Derek Ducommun Joliet, Illinois; and a sister: Ruth Kness of Iowa Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ernest and Grace Wickham; his wives: Lenora Wickham and Ellen Wickham; six brothers: his twin Harold, Harry, a set of twins: Lesley and Wesley, Donald, and Merle; two sisters: Ruby Johnson, and Mary Smith; and two other unnamed infant siblings.
