Carl I. Jorgensen, 51, son of
Nels and Christina Christenson-
Jorgensen, was born March 5, 1912
in Norsunby, Denmark. He came
to the United States at the age of
three with his parents, settled in
Cedar Falls and later moved to
Minnesota.
After the death of his mother
when he was nine, he came to
Iowa and lived in Oelwein and vicinity.
In May 1933, he was married to
Georgia Rich from Maynard. In
October, 1934 twin sons were born.
He was engaged in the trucking
business until 1946, at which time
he opened his own garage for
truck and trailer sales. In late fall
of 1965, he sold his business and
moved to Marshalltown, where he
was associated with his son, Leo,
until his death.
He died Sunday, July 31, 1966 in
Rochester, Minn. He is survived by
his wife, Georgia; two sons, Leon
of Oelwein, Leo of Marshalltown;
five grandchildren; one brother.
Frank Skow of Rochester, Minn.;
four sisters, Mrs. Richard Jensen
of Rochester, Minn.; Mrs. Lynn
Miller and Mrs. Connie Ryan, both
of Chicago and Mrs. Grant Downing
of Elmhurst, Ill. He was preceded
in death by his parents.
Memorial services were conducted
Aug. 2, in Grace Methodist
church, Oelwein, the Rev. E. Morris
Egeland officiating.
Pall bearers were Louis Pirillo,
Gordon Sanford, James Gallagher.
Clarence Pond, George Dewees and
Lee Gries.
Flower committee was Mrs. Clarence
Pond. Mrs. Gordon Sanford,
Mrs. Louis Pirillo and Mrs. George
Dewees. Special music was presented
by James Kaufman, with
Mrs. Mildred Smith at the organ.
Interment was in Woodlawn
cemetery, Oelwein.
