Jane Fereday Bloom 1863-1917

Jane Fereday Bloom was born in
Washington County, Penn., on Mar.
24th. 1863. The family came to Iowa
in 1866 and settled near Arlington
where she resided until she was 15
years of age. Since which time she has
resided in Oelwein.
She was united in marriage to Wesley
H. Bloom on Oct. 28th, 1902. They
have happily journeyed together until
death called her on April 2nd 1917.
Mrs. Bloom was a member of the
Grace Methodist Episcopal church for
many years and her confidence in her
Savior, assured her of a welcome in
heaven when she knew her time was
fast passing she spoke often to her
husband, saying, "I'm going home."
In her going she-leaves husband,
three brothers, Benjamin and Allen
of Oelwein and Isaac, of Garwoood,
Texas., also three sisters, Charlotte
Higman of Manchester, Iowa, Anna
Derflinger, of Oelwein and Mary Barrett,
of Dubuque, besides numerous
relatives and friends!
On Wednesday afternoon, April 4th
a brief service was held at her late
residence on South Frederick street,
after which she was bourn to Grace
church, where in the presence of a
large number of friends and neighbors
the funeral services were con-
ducted by the pastor, Dr. Frank P.
Shaffer. Several hymns of home and
heaven we're sung by Mrs. McBride
and Miss Lyle Shaffer, with Mrs. Leaton
presiding at the organ.
The casket was surrounded with
beautiful sprays of roses, carnations
and lillies, attended by her relatives
and many friends she was carried to
Oak Lawn cemetery where she was
lovingly laid to rest
