Henrietta Bunting South 1844-1914

Henrietta Bunting was born in Zanesville, Ohio,
October 6, 1844 and passed away at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Louella Chase, 513 First Street East
Thursday, March 5 at 6:30 pm aged sixty nine years
and five months. She was the daughter of Robert J.
and Naoma Jane Bunting, and with her parents came
to Iowa when eight years of age, the family locating
near Cascade.

She was united in marriage to Benjamin A. South,
December 6, 1866 at Cascade, Iowa and made her
home there up to twenty-two years ago when they
moved to Oelwein where she continued to reside
till she passed away. There were seven children born
to this union, two of whom died in infancy. The five
remaining children are Mrs. Claudia A. Beatty of
Roswell, NM, Mrs. Norma Jane Olsen, Dearborn, MO,
Mrs. Mary Johnson, Portland, Oregon, Robert J. South
of Oelwein and Mrs. Louella Chase of Oelwein. Mrs.
Johnson and Mrs. Beatty were unable to attend the
last services.

The funeral was held at Grace M. E. church, of which
she was a faithful member, Monday at 2:30 pm
conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. P. Van Horn, assisted
by Rev. A. H. Nickell of the Baptist church. Interment
in the new cemetery by the side of her husband.
