Wilhelmina Caroline Loeb, daughter of Valentine
and Christina Harting Loeb, was born Jan. 9, 1877
in Blackhawk County near Jubilee. She was baptized
at the Spring Creek Lutheran church on Jan. 27, 1877.
She was confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church of
Oelwein on May 25, 1890.

On Sept. 16, 1897 she married August H. Gosse.
They observed their 58th wedding anniversary in
1955.

Three years ago she suffered a heart attack but
recovered enough to be up and around, though
confined to her home and dependent on the care
of her husband and daughter Alma. She died
Thursday, May 24, between 5 and 6 pm.

She was preceded in death by her parents and
three sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her husband; three daughters;
Alma, Mrs. Harry McInnis, Oelwein; Ida, Mrs. Gains
Knight and Minnie, Mrs. Walter Scanlon, both of
San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. William Hultman,
Westgate and three brothers, Fred Loeb, Oelwein,
Robert Loeb, Westgate and Henry Loeb, Galena,
Illinois.

Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran
church in Oelwein by Pastor H. E. Dieter with music
by Mrs. H. E. Dieter, vocalist and Mrs. W. Kutschat,
organist. Burial in Woodlawn cemetery.
