Funeral services for Arnold Stumme were held Saturday, December 3, 11 a.m. at the West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont, Iowa. The Rev. Donald Loots officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Readlyn, Iowa. Casket bearers were Terry Stumme, Mark Stumme, Kenton Groth, Gary Spier, Ron Heidt, and Kenneth Stumme.

Arnold Louis Stumme, son of Henry and Wilamina (Mathias) Stumme was born July 4, 1900 in Maxfield Township, Bremer County, Iowa. He died Thursday morning, December 1, 1988 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, Iowa. He attended high school in Waverly and also
Wartburg College. On May 21, 1925 he married Lydia Spier at Readlyn. The couple had 2 sons. Arnold was employed by the Central States Power Company for many years and then became the Deputy Treasurer for Fayette County before finally becoming the owner and operator of a grocery store in Clermont, Iowa.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, who died July 23, 1975, 5 brothers, John, Art, Herman, Henry, and Emil Stumme, and 3 sisters, Minnie, Anna, and Bertha.

He is survived by two sons, LaVern and his wife, Sally, and Howard and his wife, Madonna, all of Postville, Iowa; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Arnold was a member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa.
