Funeral services for Henry Helgerson were held Monday April 10, 1989 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery. Casket bearers were his grandsons: Michael and Scott Hill, Bryce, Brock, Chad, and Cory Helgerson.

Henry Amandis Helgerson, son of Andrew and Helga (Lervold) Helgerson, was born March 26, 1910 in Fayette County near Clermont, Iowa. He died Friday, April 7, 1989 in the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, Iowa. He was baptized April 24, 1910 and confirmed at the Stavanger Lutheran Church on October 26, 1924. He attended the rural schools in Fayette County, Iowa.

On March 11, 1941 he married Ruth Suckow at the Zion Lutheran Church Parsonage in West Union, Iowa. The couple had 5 children. They farmed in the Postville and West Union areas. He was also employed at Hygrade Food Products on Postville until retiring in 1972.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Ruth; his four sons, Ernest (Jane) Helgerson of Clermont, Iowa,Richard (Sandie) of Postville, Daryl (Mary) of Castalia, Iowa, and Ronald (Brenda) of Monona, Iowa; one daughter, Nancy (Joe) Hill of Severn, Maryland; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; 4 brothers, Myron, Howard and Adrian Helgerson, all of West Union, Iowa and Clarence of Postville, Iowa; six sisters, Myrtle Mork, Edna Peterson, Gladys Kleppe and Ella Wolfs Saboe, all of West Union, Iowa; Arlene Sutter, Lansing, Iowa and Thelma Schweinefus, Ossian,, Iowa.
