Howard Kenneth Boyle, son of Edward and Dora (Connor) Boyle was born January 14, 1913 at Elgin, Iowa. He died February 1, 1989. He graduated from Elgin High School and attended Upper Iowa University, Fayette, Iowa for two years receiving a teaching degree. On June 10, 1937 he was united in marriage to Marjorie Barker at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Clermont, Iowa.

Howard was a soil conservationist technician for over 30 years. He also taught school, farmed and was a rural mail carrier. He was a member of the West Union Chamber of Commerce; Past President of the W.U. Senior Citizens Housing Corp., Past District Governor of Lions International and was a 4th Degree Knights with the Knights of Columbus.

Preceding Howard in death was his wife, Marjorie, who died in 1976; his parents and his brother Sheldon.

Howard is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Alanna and Mark Levin, Oelwein, Iowa; his son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Charlyn Boyle, West Union, Iowa; four grandchildren; his sister, Mrs. Eva Marie Kohls, West Union, Iowa, and his loving friend, Norma Potts, West Union.

His funeral service was held Friday February 3, 1989 10:30 a.m. in Holy Name Catholic Church, West Union, Iowa. Officiating was Rev. Thomas Schwinn. Pallbearers were Robert K. Mott, Dick Barker, Sheldon Kohls, Ron Barker, Duane Barker, Jay Barker, Larry Barker, and Don Malek. Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, West Union. Burnham and Wood Funeral Home, West Union was in charge of arrangements.
