Henry Leonard Anfinson, West Union, Iowa, died last Tuesday *This newspaper did not list the death date, but it was probably during the last week of January in 1989, based on information on the back of the clipping* at the Elkader Care Center, Elkader, Iowa where he had lived since August of 1987. He was 92 years old.

Services were conducted Friday at Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Ossian, Iowa by the Rev. Wayne Ellingson. Pallbearers were Marvin Youngblood, Kenneth Skinner, Clarence Bishop, Ahlert Anfinson, Dennis Anfinson, and Neal Bishop. Interment was in Stavanger Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ossian.

Henry Leonard Anfinson was born February 15, 1896 to Ole and Anna (Wolfs) Anfinson in Dover Township, rural West Union, Iowa. He was confirmed in Stavanger Lutheran Church November 6, 1910 by the Rev. B. Askevold and was a life time member of Stavanger Lutheran Church. He attended a rural school near his home and entered the military service in 1917. After the end of World War I, he worked for a short time as a farm helper and road supervisor in Dover Township.

On May 11, 1927, he married Catharine A. Bishop of West Union. They farmed in Dover township and became the parents of four children. In 1942 they purchased the Lima Store at Lima, Iowa and resided there until 1965 when they retired and moved to West Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Otto, Elmer, Joe and Leo Anfinson; two sisters Cora Anfinson in infancy and Mrs. Leonard (Cora) Larson; two grandchildren and one niece.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Verle (Darlene) Pugh of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Mrs. Harold (Leone) Popenhagen of Wadena, Iowa, Mrs. Fouad(Kolleen) Asaad of Catlin, Illinois; one son Darrel Anfinson of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Irvin Anfinson of Ossian; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
