Harry Everett, Jr. was born Augut 26, 1924 at Lamont, Iowa to Harry and Alma (Nading) Everett. He was raised and educated in the Lamont and Dundee, Iowa areas attending rural and the Lamont schools. From December 21, 1941 to November 28, 1945 he served in the U.S. Navy.

He was united in marriage to Delores Torkelson on July 22, 1951 at West Clermont Lutheran Church. Three children were born to this union. Harry was employed at several places in the Elgin area prior to his employment with the Valley Coop, where he worked a number of years until retiring in 1986. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed working with wood and collecting guns and antiques. He died suddenly Thursday morning, May 25, 1989 at his home.

He is survived by his wife, Delores; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Janet) Aanes, Cedar Falls, Iowa, Brenda Everett,and son, Errol Everett, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three grandchildren, Nikki, Travis and Jodi; two sisters, Patsy Bowden, Masonville, Iowa and Anna Mae Sands, of Waverly, Iowa; two brothers, Leonard, Waverly and Jim of Hiawatha. He was preceded in death by his parents,two brothers, Alva and Bob, and son-in-law Brian Amundson.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 29, 1989 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elgin Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ernest Thompson officiating. Casket bearers were Mike Tessmer, Art Lantz, Steve Woods, Ernest Helgerson, Cliff Gisleson, and Giles Martin. Interment was in the Elgin Cemetery. Arrangements were through the Muehlethaler Funeral Home, Elgin.
