Lena Langreck, 91, died last Monday *Note:This paper did not list the date of death. Based on the back of the newspaper clipping, the date was probably between March and April of 1989* at St. Joseph's Community hospital, New Hampton, Iowa following complications from a stroke. Funeral services were held Friday at 11 a.m. at St.Luke's Catholic Church at St.Lucas, Iowa by the Rev. Florian Schmitt. Pallbearers were he six sons. Burial was in St. Luke's cemetery.

Mrs. Langreck was born January 5, 1898, the daughter of Clemens and Margaret (Kuennen) Mihm at St.Lucas. On April 23, 1918 she married John J. Langreck. They farmed all their married years on a farm near St.Lucas. They became the parents of 12 children. She was a member of St.Luke's Church and St.Luke's Rosary Society.

Preceding her in death were her parents;her husband in 1983; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Schmelzer; two granddaughters, Mary Jo Schmelzer and Debra Jirak; five brothers, Joe, Charlie, Henry, George Mihm, and a brother, George in infancy; two sisters, Sister Beata and Sister Clement.

Survivors include six sons, Henry, Louis, Charles of West Union,Iowa, Francis of Lawler, Iowa, Clem of Waucoma, Iowa, and Jerome of San Diego, California; six daughters, Marie Langreck of West Union, Mrs. Stanley Busta of Lawler, Mrs. Paul Chipera, Mrs. Martin Gossling, and Mrs. Julian Kuhn of Fort Atkinson, Iowa, and Mrs. Larry Jirak of Lawler; 43 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ben Mihm of Wadena, Iowa and one sister, Mrs. Barbara Kouten of Fayette, Iowa.
