Funeral services for Lucille Louise Brainard, 76, were held October 22, 1985 at Muehlethaler Funeral Home,Elgin, Iowa with the Rev. Duane L. Berg officiating. Burial was in the Elgin Cemetery. Casket bearers were Bill Pfister, Dan Butikofer, Oliver Follon, Gene O'Donnell, Harold Klepper, and Harlan Klepper. Honorary casket bearers were LeRoy "Tag" Homewood, Dean Harris, Calvin Way, John Moore, Levi Gage, Orville Harnack, and Harlan Harnack.

Lucille Louise Brainard, the daughter of Bertha (Martin) and Henry Bartels, was born January 23, 1909 at Waukon. She died October 19, 1985 at her home in Elgin. She attended the elementary school at Decorah. On September 2, 1923 she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She lived in the Volga, Elgin, Postville areas and was a beautician in the Volga area. She was married to Carl P. Brainard August 16, 1960.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ira C. Moore; her second husband, Carl F. Brainard in 1983; several brothers and sisters. Survivors include a number of step-children including Charles Brainard of Postville, many step-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Clara Kronlund and Mrs. Irving (Louise) Berg, both of Superior, WI.
