Mary Catherine (Goodin) Dennler passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2007 after a brief illness at the Good Samaritan Center in West Union, Iowa at the age of 76. Mary was born on July 30, 1931 to Warren and Madonna (Penneton) Goodin at Elkader, Iowa. Mary graduated from the Elkader High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Leo Robert Dennler in August 1950 in Elgin, Iowa. Two children were born to this union.

In 1961 Mary's husband passed away and with the help of her mother-in-law and step-father-in-law she raised her two young children. Mary also worked at several jobs up until 1982, when her health started failing.

In July 2007, Mary was diagnosed with brain and lung cancer. Her two children cared for her at home for three months until she entered the hospital on October 6, 2007 and then the Good Samaritan Center on October 10, 2007.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leo in 1961; and a sister.

Surviving are her two children, Jim Dennler and Linda Dennler, four sisters and four brothers, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services were held on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the St.Paul's United Methodist Church, in Elgin, Iowa. Rev. Rick Johnson officiated. Carol Katsumes was the organist and Debbie Matt was the soloist. Honorary pallbearers were Matt Ellis, Tom Frascht, Rick Whittle, John McMillan, Jon Chapman, and Randy Torson.
