Mildred Graf, formerly of West Union, Iowa, entered eternal life on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at the age of 92.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Nov. 9, in Round Rock, Texas.

Mildred Anna (Begalske) Graf was born Nov. 2, 1918, on the family farm near Hawkeye. She was the oldest child of Ernest and Caroline (Zupke) Begalske. Mildred was baptized as an infant and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

She attended rural public schools.

At the age of 21, Mildred was united in marriage with Edgar Graf at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. The couple farmed southeast of West Union until they retired in 1974.

Mildred was a woman of faith; rather than complaining, she prayed. She had a high energy level, and even up to the end, she insisted on doing most everything on her own. She dearly loved playing games and cards with her family and friends.

Preceding Mildred in death were her husband, Edgar; a son-in-law, Jay Ewing; her parents; a brother, Lavern; and a sister, Dorothy.

She is survived by her six children, Reed Graf of McAllen, Texas, Marvel (Andy) Reed of Liberty Hills, Texas, Rodney (Judy) Graf of Escondido, Calif., Marjorie Ewing of Bend, Ore., Marilyn (Gary) Taylor of Rocklin, Calif., and Raymond (Loretta) Graf of Perch Lake, Ontario, Canada.

Additional survivors include a sister, Donna (Merlin) Schult of Oelwein; a sister-in-law, Doris Begalske of Arkansas; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
