Mildred Mabb

Funeral services for Mildred Mabb were held Saturday, June 22, 1999 at 1:30 p.m. in the Clermont Funeral Chapel at Clermont, Iowa. The Reverend Paul Wigtil of West Union, Iowa officiated and also provided the special music. The Schutte Funeral Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at a later date.

Mildred Jeanette (Woodson) Mabb, the daughter of John and Rena Amanda (Smock) Woodson, was born June 12, 1916 at Hawkeye, Iowa. She died Thursday, June 10, 1999 in the Good Samaritan Center at West Union, Iowa. She had reached the age of 82 years, 11 months and 28 days.

She was baptized June 9, 1999 by the Reverend Paul Wigtil at the Good Samaritan Center at West union, Iowa.

Mildred attended the Hawkeye School. On July 22, 1931 she was married to Lyle D. Mabb at Fayette, Iowa. To this union six children were born.

They farmed near West Union for several years. Mildred worked at Gerner's Tavern in Clermont for over 20 years.

She is survived by her children, Gail Herman, JoAnn (Dennis) Dreier and Joyce (Carl) Ramaker, all of Clermont, IA and Mervil (Lavonne) Mabb of Postville. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, one brother, Frank (Constance) Woodson of New Hampton, IA, one sister, Phillis Homewood of West Union, IA, and a sister-in-law, Bert Woodson of New Hampton, IA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lyle, one daughter, Wanda, one son, Gene, a granddaughter, Laura Dreier, three brothers, Howard Woodson, David Woodson and John Woodson, and three sisters, Bernice Troup, Dorothy Christianson and Georgia Meyer.

Casket bearers were her grandchildren; honorary casket bearers were great grandchildren.
