SUMNER — Marie C. Hintz, 85, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004,
at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner, following a brief illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, Westgate, with burial in the
church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:30 until 8 p.m. Friday at
Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, and after
9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Marie was born April I, 1918, at Westgate, to
Albert O. and Minnie A. Bartz Raether. She
married Arnold W. Hintz on Jan. 15, 1938, at
Westgate. The couple farmed in the Westgate area
for more than 40 years, retiring in 1986.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Volker of Sumner; two
granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elsie Raether
of Sumner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold,
May 13, 1992; a son-in-law, Roger Volker in 2002; one brother. Art
Raether; and three sisters, Gartha and Ella Raether and Leona Potratz
