Loretta G. Kleve, 68, of rural Waucoma, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 13, 2010, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by the Rev. Nick March and the Rev. Marvin Salz at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler.

The pall was placed by Loretta's children. The lector for the service was Heidi Kleve. Offertory gifts were presented by Loretta's grandchildren.

Ranae Huinker was the organist with Janet Schmitt as vocalist. Special music selections included "How Great Thou Art," "Here I Am, Lord," "Be Not Afraid," "Lead Me, Lord," and a solo entitled "Pain Is Over."

Interment was in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Lawler, with Keith Jerdee, Dale Christensen, Gary Cuvelier, Darin Kleve, Matthew Dietzenbach, and Eric Dietzenbach serving as pallbearers.

Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Loretta (Gebel) Kleve was born June 21, 1942, in rural North Washington, Ia., to Frank and Helen (Schwickerath) Gebel.

She graduated from Lawler High School in 1960.

On June 26, 1962, Loretta was united in marriage with Paul "Pete" Kleve. To this union, four children were born.

Loretta lived in the Lawler area for many years, working 13 years as a school bus driver for Turkey Valley.

The couple moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1986 and resided there until Paul's sudden passing on Jan. 1, 1987.

Loretta then returned to Iowa, working as an independent sales representative for Sunburst Memorials. She managed the Sunset Motel in Sumner until retirement and then moved to the Waucoma area.

She enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards, and spending time with her family.

Loretta was a dear friend to many people of all ages, and will be missed deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; two brothers, Leroy and Bob Gebel; and five brothers-in-law, Marvin Kleve, Edgar Wurzer, Francis Burns, Ray Balik, and Luke Kriener.

Loretta is survived by her special friend of 19 years, LaVerne "Tuffy" Blue of Waucoma; a daughter, Sheri (Clair) Dietzenbach of St. Lucas; three sons, Kevin (Lori) Kleve of Urbandale, Brian (Karen) Kleve of Phoenix, Ariz., Mike (Heidi) Kleve of Martensdale; and 10 grandchildren, Eric (Andrea), Matthew, and Jill Dietzenbach, Madison, Jordyn, and Karson Kleve, Andrew and Kayla Kleve, and Derek and Jaclyn Kleve.

Additional survivors include two brothers, Francis (Darlene) Gebel of Lawler and Joseph (Diana) Gebel of Lawler; five sisters, Marilyn (Jim) Liebold of Rochester, Minn., Lucille (Francis) Reicks of Lawler, Leona Kriener of Cresco, Doris Balik of Protivin, Jean Hageman of Decorah; sisters-in-law Betty Wurzer of Lawler, Alvera Kleve of Postville, Rita Gebel of Sumner, Mary Agnes Gebel of New Hampton; two brothers-in-law, Herb (Judy) Kleve of Calmar and Linus (Sharon) Kleve of Calmar.
