Funeral services for Hawkeye, Iowa, native Clara E. Samek, 93, of Cedar Rapids were held Thursday, Oct. 7, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids.

Burial was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Clara died at Meth-Wick Community senior living residence in Cedar Rapids.

Clara E. (Jansa) Samek was born July 16, 1917, in Hawkeye. She was the daughter of Joseph and Emma Ludvicek Jansa. On Nov. 20, 1945, she married Paul H. Samek in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death in 2005.

A homemaker, Clara was also an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a son, Howard (Karen) of Bloomingdale, Ill.; a sister, Ella Samek of Cedar Rapids; and two grandchildren.

Memorials in Clara E. Samek's name may be directed to Meth-Wick Community, Trinity United Methodist Church, or the Czech & Slovak Museum, all in Cedar Rapids.
