Aged Westgate Resident Dies Tuesday, Feb. 14 at Son's Home
Carl Bartz, 94, a former resident of Sumner community died at his home in Westgate, Tuesday, February 14, 1950.
Funeral services were held in St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Westgate at 2 pm with the Rev. Otto C. Shultz in charge. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery, there.
Carl Bartz, fourth of seven children was born in Klein Salien, Pomerania, Germany, September 10, 1855, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bartz and died February 14, 1950 at the age of 94 years, 5 month, and two days. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith in home of his birth.
He was united in marriage to Miss Wilhelmina Berndt.
In 1892, Mr. Bartz, along with his family emigrated from Germany to America and for two years lived in the Sumner community. Since 1894 he has lived on a farm near Westgate. His wife preceded him in death in 1914. During the past few years he has resided at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Bartz. For the past 56 years he has been a member of Saint Peter's Lutheran Church at Westgate.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by three children.
Mourning his death are nine children; Anna, Mrs. Theodore Knief; Ida, Mrs. Theodore Fratzke; Otto Bartz; Louise, Mrs. Adolph Komrofske; Clair, Mrs. Herman Nauholz; Elsie, Mrs. Waldemar Koelling all of Westgate; Minnie, Mrs. Albert Raether, Sumner; Emma, Mrs. Henry Hoth of Maynard; 34 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
