HILL

It was a very affecting scene at the
B. C. B. & N. depot yesterday forenoon
when the remains of Mrs. Oliver
Hill arrived here from Pueblo, Colorado,
for burial: There was a large
number of relatives and friends at the
depot to meet the bereaved husband
and daughter, who had made the sad
journey for the purpose of burying
their loved one at this place near the
scene where she had resided for so
many years. Mr. and Mrs. Hill were
among the early settlers of this vicinity,
residing east of town. They went
to Colorado eight or nine years ago to
see if the change of climate might not
be beneficial to her health, but she
gradually failed until death came to
her relief last Monday. She was
about forty-five years of age and was
highly respected by all who knew her.
She leaves a very large circle of relatives
and friends here to mourn her
loss. The funeral services were conducted
at the Free Baptist Church
yesterday, and the burial took place
in the Oelwein cemetery. Mr. Hill is
a brother of Mr. Jere Hill, residing
southeast of town, and will be remembered
by all the early settlers in Oelwein
and vicinity.

Oelwein Register - 1 Aug 1895
Burial was in Otsego Cemetery, Lot 61
