Funeral services for Curtis A. Chensvold, 81, of Decorah, Iowa, formerly of West Union, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural West Union, with the Rev. Marshall Nessa officiating.

Interment was in the West Union Cemetery. Casket bearers were Shawn Chensvold, David Chensvold, Cary Chensvold, Terry Chensvold, Bret Knapp, and Nick Fox.

Burnham-Wood & S.K. Rogers Funeral Homes were in charge of arrangements.

Curt died Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at Wellington Place, Decorah.

Curtis A. Chensvold, son of A.M. and Mae (Osterhus) Chensvold, was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Fayette County.

On Nov. 13, 1948, he was united in marriage with Delores Cowles at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural West Union, where he was a lifelong member.

After Curt and Delores married, they farmed for several years in the Hawkeye area. Later, they owned part interest in Hawkeye Produce Company and West Union Produce.

Curt was also employed by John Deere Tractor Works, Big Gain Feeds, and worked for 12 years as a retail route salesman for Humphry Dairy, which was purchased by Schwan's. Following his employment with Schwan's, Curt worked for and later purchased the local Dodge dealership, which he operated as Curt's Dodge Ltd. In West Union. From 1979 until his retirement, Curt was a car salesman for John Falb Company in West Union.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Les; a sister, Bernice; and a daughter-in-law, Vickie.

Curt is survived by his wife, Delores; three sons, Roger Chensvold of West Union, Ron Chensvold of Dophne, Ala., and Don Chensvold of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Connie Fox of St. Charles, Minn.; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
