HAWKEYE — Charles E. McLeish, 84, died Tuesday, Nov. 19,
2002, following an auto accident east of Fredericksburg.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at Becker-Milnes
Funeral Chapel, Hawkeye. There will be no visitation.
He was born in Fayette County, the son of Archibald and Lila
Bennett McLeish. He married June Timm in Austin, Minn. Charles
served with the Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II,
receiving the Purple Heart. He and his wife farmed north of Hawkeye.
Survivors include his wife, June; two sons, Charles and Mark, both
of Hawkeye; four daughters, Lynda (Michael) Cich of Oakland, Tenn.,
Janilyn (Myron) Welch of Owenton, Ky., Heidilyn McLeish of Des
Moines and Heatherlyn McLeish of Maynard; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Viola,
Vemetta and Margaret; and two brothers, Andrews and Elmer.
