Paul Holtz
Funeral services for Paul Holtz, 84, Independence, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 31 at St. John's Catholic church in Independence. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Holtz died at 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 28, at People's Memorial hospital in Independence. He was born Feb. 15, 1882 in Buchanan county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Holtz.
He married Mary Barry In May, 1901 at St. John's church, Independence. The couple retired from a farm near Kasson, Minn. in July, 1961 and moved to Independence.
He is survived by his wife; one half-sister, Mrs. Kathryn Debois, Edgewood and one half-brother, George Holtz, Edgewood.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters. The Hawe Funeral home was in charge of arrangements. The body was taken to the home Tuesday where the rosary was said.
Pallbearers were Howard O'Brien, Marshall Van Vooren, Harold Fenner, Arthur Van Vooren, Leo Burns and Richard T. Cone.
