A Mass of Christian Burial for Daniel L. Breuer, 20, of West Union, Iowa, was celebrated by the Rev. Dale Rausch at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, at Holy Name Catholic Church, West Union.

Bonnie Gorman was the lector, with Tony, Beth and Krista Moellers as altar servers. The Offertory gift bearers were David, Andrea, Jessica and Lee Breuer. Alan Freidhof and Leon Soppe were the ushers.

Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Raymond. Casket bearers were Matt Schmitz, Luke Breuer, Lucas Monson, Brad Schmitz, Eric Snyder and Justin Villont.

Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union, was in charge of arrangements.

Dan's death occurred Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines as a result of a motorcycle/automobile accident near Ankeny.

Daniel Lee Breuer, son of Joe and Carolyn (Schmitz) Breuer, was born July 18, 1989, in Waterloo.

A 2007 graduate of North Fayette High School in West Union, Dan was a senior at Iowa State University in Ames, where he was majoring in mechanical engineering. While a full-time student, Dan also worked for the National Lab for Agriculture and the Environment.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, woodworking, and attending Iowa State.

Preceding Dan in death were grandparents James Schmitz and Marcella Breuer; an aunt, Mary Schmitz; and an uncle, Gerry Schmitz.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Joe and Carolyn Breuer of West Union; his three sisters, Kimberly, Linda and Julie; his maternal grandmother, Maxine Schmitz of Raymond; his paternal grandfather, Wilfred (Willie) Breuer of Waterloo; 42 aunts and uncles; 56 cousins; his special friend, Bridget Horan; many other relatives and friends.
