Celebration of Life graveside services and internment for Gladys W. Lubbert, 90, of Waterloo, Iowa, formerly of Fayette, were held Friday, May 21, in Grandview Cemetery, Fayette. The Rev. Timothy Parker officiated.
Honorary pallbearers were Kit Schneiders, Michael Yates, Jeffrey Yates, and Mathew Earle.
Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Fayette, was in charge of arrangements.
Gladys' death occurred from natural causes on Monday, May 17, 2010, at a niece's home in Waterloo.
Gladys Winnifred, daughter of Earnie and Winnifred (Kuhens) Earle, was born Sept. 27, 1919, near Randalia.
She graduated from Randalia High School in 1937 and later attended business school.
Gladys was united in marriage with Lawrence Holtzman, who later died in France during World War II.
On March 10, 1948, she was wed to Alvin Lubbert in Waterloo. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1985.
While living in Fayette, Gladys was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she was confirmed in 1962, and involved with the church women's activities.
Gladys owned and operated Gladys' Truck Stop in Fayette for many years. She then worked at Lucy's Garden of Eatin' in Fayette for 15 years. She also cleaned houses.
In addition to her two husbands, Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Michael Dean Lubbert; five brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include two nieces, Barbara (Joe) Yates and Dixie (Ray) Nielsen, both of Waterloo; numerous nieces and nephews.
