William Anderson Weatherbee
was born July 18, 1885, in Fayette
County, la. He was the son of
Perry and Frances Meyer Weatherbee
and came to Oelwein with his
parents at an early age. In 1900
he was employed by the Chicago
Great Western as a blacksmith. He
worked for this company until his
retirement in July, 1942.
In 1905 he was married to Martha
Bathke. They had two daughters.
His first wife died in 1937
and on Oct. 12, 1938 he was married
to Elsie Barth. They had two
sons.
William, who had been in poor
health for several months, was
taken to a local nursing home
where he died Thursday morning,
Sept. 16. 1965 at the age of 80
years.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie;
two daughters, Mrs. Florence
White, San Rafael, Calif., and Mrs.
Milford Kenny, San Francisco,
Calif; two sons, Evert, Oelwein,
and James at the parental home;
one sister, Mrs. David Graham,
Clinton, la., and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted
at the Hintz Funeral Chapel Saturday
afternoon, Sept. 18, 1965.
