Arthur John Lantz, 91, of Elgin, Iowa, died Friday, May 14, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Center in West Union, Iowa, following a brief illlness.

Arthur was born on August 15, 1918, in rural Marion Township, Clayton County, Iowa, to John and Anna (Schoien) Lantz. He attended rural country schools. He served honorable in the United States Army during World War II.

Arthur was united in marriage to Louise Evans on March 12, 1941, in her parent's home. Two daughters were born to this union. Arthur worked for many years for John Falb and Son's in Elgin, Iowa. He enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking. Arthur and Louise loved dancing to the Toe Tappers. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and all of his family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Eloise Lembke of Plano, TX, LaDonna Jacobson of West Union; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lousie Lantz on December 30, 2008; two brothers, Walter Lantz, Maynard Lantz and one sister, Cora Klingman.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Elgin, Iowa. The Rev. Rick Johnson will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, Iowa, with military rites.

Visitation will be held one hour before services at the church on Tuesday, May 18, 2010.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elgin, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
