Funeral services for Raymond Lantz were Monday, Jan. 19, 1987 at Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder. Rev. William Palmquist officiated. Muehlethaler Funeral Home of Elgin was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Raymond Lantz, son of Will and Hannah (Schoien) Lantz, was born July 10, 1912 near Elgin. He died Friday, Jan. 16 in the Edgewood Convalescent Home, Edgewood.

He attended the Cook country school. He married Geneva Christianson and they had a son, Raymond "Gene" Lantz. He farmed until 1957 and then moved to Postville where he worked in the turkey plant for a time and then for the city of Postville. He lived in Postville until ill health moved him into nursing care.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Geneva in July, 1953; 2 great grandchildren, Sherry Willis and Earl Smith, Jr.; 2 brothers, Lesley and Wilmer and a sister, Alice Chapman.

Surviving are his son Gene; 4 grandchildren, Sandra Smith, Kenneth Arrington, Ray Lantz, Jr., all of Postville and Barbara Arrington, of Gatesville, TX; 3 great grandchildren, Brian Willis and Cody Smith, Postville and Everett Willis, Jr., of Colorado; a brother Elmer and a sister, Mrs. Winnefred Butikofer, both of Elgin.

Casket bearers were Craig Christianson, Brad Christianson, LaVern Lantz, John Chapman, Robert Chapman and Earl Smith.
