James Vincent Crawford,
81, of Cedar Falls, formerly of
Arlington, died Tuesday, Dec. 31,
1996, in the Cedar Falls Health
Care Center after an illness. Services:
1:30 p.m. Friday, First United
Methodist Church, Cedar Falls.
Graveside services, with military
rites: Garden of Memories Cemetery,
Waterloo. Friends may call
from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 to
11 a.m. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-
Schumacher Chapel On Kimball,
Waterloo, where a Masonic
service begins at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Janice;
and a daughter, Pat Meyer of
Des Moines.
Also surviving are two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a
brother, Earl; and twin sons in
infancy.
Born Dec. 7, 1915, in Arlington,
son of Harry and Edith Brooks
Crawford, he married Janice R.
Harrison on July 21, 1945, in
Rowley. James was a salesman for
37 years for Western Land Roller
and sold real estate in his semi-retirement.
He served with the Army
in Europe during World War
II.
James was past worshipful
master of the Masonic Lodge in
Arlington, past president of El
Mecca Shrine Club and El Mecca
Oriental Band. In 1982, he was
past potentate of El Kahir Shrine
Temple in Cedar Rapids and past
worthy patron of Order of Eastern
Star Chapter 78 in Cedar Falls.
James was a 55-year Mason and a
member of Black Hawk Lodge 65
AF&AM in Cedar Falls.
Military rites will be conducted
by American Legion Becker-Chapman
Post 138 and VFW Post 1623.
Masonic services will be conducted
by Black Hawk Lodge 65.
