Saturday funeral at Sacred Heart for William Carver

The funeral of William P. Carver will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at Sacred Heart church, Oelwein. Mr. Carver, 84, a retired Chicago Great Western switchman, died at Mercy Hospital Thursday afternoon.

Officiating at the services will be the Rev. Richard W. Kuhn, St. Francis church, Fayette, and the Rev. Robert L. Taylor of the Maynard Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Oelwein.

The rosary and wake service will be at Hintz Funeral home, Oelwein at 8:30 tonight (Friday). The body will be at the funeral home until hour of services.

Mr. Carver had lived in Oelwein until moving to Maynard eight years ago. He is survived by his wife, Helen; two daughters, Mrs. Frances Powers and Mrs. Helen Cannon, both of Oelwein; a stepson, William C. Myers, Mount Morris, Ill., and four grandchildren.

He was born Oct. 1, 1887, at Boone, the son of Daniel and Alice Carver.
