Death of Mrs. James Cannon

Mrs. James Cannon passed away at 5:30 o'clock Sunday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. M. Callies, 210 Third Avenue south, after an illness lasting over a year. Deceased was 73 years of age.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Obituary for Sarah (Everitt) Cannon.

Sarah Everitt Cannon was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania October 18, 1850 and passed away November 19, 1923 at the age of 73 years.

Her early life was passed in Pittsburg where she met and was united in marriage to Mr. James Cannon of Buchanan County, Iowa. To this union was born five children. Mrs. A. A. Williams of St Paul; Mrs. Wm. Callies, Oelwein; Mrs. Mary Kent, Great Falls, Montana; Frank Cannon of Davenport, Iowa; and Tom Cannon of Oelwein. These, besides her husband, eighteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren mourn her loss.

During their fifty years of married life, Mr. And Mrs. Cannon resided in and around Oelwein where they endeared themselves to many friends.

The funeral was held from Sacred Heart church at nine o’clock Wednesday morning. Requiem Mass being sung by the boys of the Sacred Heart choir. The body was laid to rest in Woodlawn cemetery.
