Services were held for Helmer Lyngaas Thursday, Dec. 15, 1977, at 1:30 p.m. at the East Clermont Lutheran Church. The Rev. Clarence Johnson officiated. Burial was at the East Clermont Cemetery. Casket bearers were Arthur Helgerson, Loren Green, Donald Clark, Merril Gunderson, Quinton Olson, Louie Erickson. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Helmer Lyngaas, son of Engebret and Anna Olson Lyngaas, was born Jan. 5, 1914, on a farm in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He died Dec. 12, 1977, at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, at the age of 63 years.

He was baptized March 5, 1914, by Pastor Bursett, and confirmed May 13, 1928, by Pastor Gunsten, at the East Clermont Lutheran Church. He attended the rural schools of Clayton County and graduated from the high school at Clermont in 1930.

On March 1, 1947, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Nevin by Pastor Nesset at the Lutheran Parsonage in Clermont. He lived his entire life on the family farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his widow, Dorothy; a son, Lowell and a daughter, Mrs. Leon (Marcia) Dibble, both of Postville; a brother, Ewald of Clermont; and five sisters: Mrs. Glen (Alice) Nygaard, Mrs. Vernon (Eleanor) Anderson, Mrs. Leona Griebenow, all of Clermont; Mrs. Clifford (Gudrun) Osmundson of Postville and Mrs. Albert (Thelma) Tinderholt of Greene.
