Services for Fritz Lauer were Saturday in the West Clermont Lutheran Church at Clermont. The Rev. Donald Loots officiated. The organist was Pat Butikofer. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the God's Acre Cemetery.

Fritz Phillip Lauer, son of John and Elizabeth (Guenther) Lauer, was born Nov. 28, 1903 at Eldorado. He died in the Good Samaritan Center at West Union.

He was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Eldorado and attended the Eldorado schools.

Feb. 27, 1930 he was married to Melvina Christina Nelson. They had 2 daughters.

They farmed north of West Union for 37 years. When they retired they moved to their home in Clermont where they lived for 17 years. He had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center at West Union for several years. He was an active participant in all the activities at the Center until he became ill.

He is preceded in death by his wife, who died Aug. 1, 1984, and 2 brothers, Edmund and Elmer.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Lorraine, of Castalia, and Jo Ann of Earlville, 6 grandchildren, Peggy, (Mrs. Ronald West) of Illinois, Judy (Mrs. Mark Boese) of Postville, Kevin and Brian Monroe, both of Monona, Paul Monroe of Waseka, MN and Brent Monroe of Earlville.

He had been a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Eldorado. He became a member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church when they moved to Clermont in 1967. He also served as Treasurer of the Dover No. 1 school for many years.

Pallbearers were Eric Henderson, Wayne Pape, Dean Hyde, Kenneth Meyer, Roy Gass and Philip Solheim.
