Mrs. Mary Downs was born at Moravia, New York,
Sept. 11, 1865. She passed away at Bakke's
Nursing Home in Oelwein on Feb. 2, at the age
of 99.
The daughter of Benjamin and Charlott Berean
Ferguson, she married Roy Downs Sept. 20, 1910
at Middleville, Mich. Downs passed away Feb. 21,
1960. Also preceding her in death were her
parents, three children, three brothers and one
sister.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Zena)
Franks and a stepson, Ross Downs. She also leaves
a grandaughter, Thelma Franks; two grandsons,
Ward and Howard Franks; and two great grand-
children. All surviving members of the family
are residents of Oelwein.
Mrs. Downs had been a homemaker and a member of
the Woman's Relief Corp.
