ELGIN, Iowa -- Services for Mellien V. Loftsgard, 93, of Elgin will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Muehlethaler Funeral Home in Elgin. Burial will be in Marion Lutheran Cemetery, Gunder, Iowa, where military honors will be accorded by the Elgin American Legion Post. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday and until time of services Friday.

Mr. Loftsgard died Tuesday morning at Grandview Nursing Center, Oelwein, Iowa. He worked at the Elgin Canning Factory for many years before his retirement in 1979, and was a World War I Army veteran.

His wife, the former Stella Erickson, died Feb. 2, 1967.

Surviving are two sons, Stanley of Richland, Mo., and Clemens of Gunder; a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Iona) Patrick of Hawkeye, Iowa; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and a brother, Edwin of West Union, Iowa.

Not sure if this clipping came from the Postville, Iowa newspaper of the time. It has a different format than the other obits so I think not, but it is from my mother's obituary collection. Posted for genealogical purposes, contributor is not related.
