Dody Bronson Dahlin, 47, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., formerly of West Union, Iowa, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, as the result of a rock wall-climbing accident.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Bethel Presbyterian Church West Union.

Services were held Feb. 6 at Ponte Vedra United Methodist Church in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Dody was born Dec. 3, 1962, in Postville. She was the daughter of Edmund "Bing" and Diane (Metzger) Bronson.

A 1981 graduate of North High School in West Union, Dody graduated from Luther College in 1985.

She was the wife of Cmdr. Mike Dahlin, USN, and the mother of two sons, Aaron and Ian. She was a devoted Navy wife and mother and was continually active with family, her sons' activities, baking, and physical fitness.

Dody's great love and gift from God was teaching children, as she was currently employed as a teacher at Accotink Academy by the Sea in Ponte Vedra.

She has left a lasting and positive impression on all those she met, and she will be sorely missed.

Dody was preceded in death by her father, E.C. "Bing" Bronson; and her grandparents, Edmund P. and A. Esther Bronson.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Dahlin, and two sons, Aaron and Ian, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; her mother, Diane Bronson, of Waterloo; her sister, Jill Nannette (John) Syharath, also of Waterloo; her brothers Jon (Sandi) Bronson of Harvard, Ill., and Darin (Jodi) Bronson of Williams Bay, Wis.; her grandparents, Viola and John Metzger of Clermont; and many other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund to the North High Class of 1981 has been established at First National Bank in West Union.

According to her family, a true tribute to Dody would be to donate your time and talent to a local organization. Causes close to Dody's heart included the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, elementary schools, local food pantries and homeless shelters, among others.
