Services for Alta (Dennler) Frieden, a life time resident of the Elgin and West Union area were held Oct. 18 at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Elgin. She died Oct. 15 at the Good Samaritan Home in West Union, where she lived for 14 years. Pastor Richard Kretzschmar conducted the services with Norma Kretzschmar as organist. Muehlethaler Funeral Home of Elgin were in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Kevin Olson, Mark Hyde, Craig Frieden, Scott Frieden, Jeff Frieden and Greg Olson.

She was born March 2, 1900 to Gottlieb and Rose (Hofer) Dennler. She married Levi Frieden, December 5, 1923.

She is survived by 2 sons: Loren of Atchison, Kan. and Roger of Elgin; 2 daughters: Mrs. Bud (Mavis) Hyde of Elkader and LeAnna Olson of Cedar Rapids; 22 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren and two sisters: Mrs. Richard (Mabel) Gehring of St. Paul, Minn. and Mrs. Willard (Opal) Schroeder of Postville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Raymond in 1977, two daughters: Eileen Schori in 1977 and one who died in infancy; 3 sisters: Anna Lehman, Lillian and Florence Dennler and 4 brothers: Ben, Sam, Emil and Clarence Dennler.
