Funeral services for Walter G. Fritz were held Friday, July 23 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethel United Presbyterian Church in West Union. Rev. G. W. Ukena officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the West Union Cemetery.

Walter G. Fritz, son of John L. and Rhoda (Smith) Fritz, was born April 25, 1890 in Fayette County, near West Union, Iowa. He died July 20, 1982 at Community Memorial Hospital in Postville.

He attended the country schools of Fayette County. On Sept. 26, 1918 he was married to Lois Helmer at West Union. To this union two children were born. In 1968 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

They farmed most of their life in Fayette County. When Walter retired from farming, he worked as an orderly at the Fayette County Care Facility for 13 years. In 1968 they moved to West Union where they lived for 11 years, moving to Postville in 1979.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Pearl, Eva and Hazel, and a grandson.

Surviving are his wife, Lois, a son, Lawrence of Mobile, Alabama, a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Ila Mae) Friederich of Luana, Iowa, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a brother, Harry of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
