Funeral services for George Christe Frieden, 71, were held Thursday, Nov. 13, 1980 at 1:30 p.m. at East Clermont Lutheran Church. The Rev. Allan J. Stoa officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the East Clermont Cemetery.

George Frieden, son of Jacob and Rose (Meyer) Frieden, was born March 25, 1909 on a farm near West Union, Iowa. He died Nov. 10, 1980 at Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wis. In 1927 he was baptized and became an active member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in West Union. He graduated from a rural school and helped with the family farming. September 28, 1943 he was married to Irene Helgerson. They engaged in farming until their retirement to Clermont in 1975. He had worked at Clermont Implement.

October 28 he suffered a massive heart attack and was taken by ambulance to LaCrosse where he underwent open heart surgery and later succumbed to unforeseen circumstances. He was a member of the East Clermont Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Karl (Diane) Klemp, Elgin and Donna, Postville; two grandchildren, Jay Duane and Jason Dean Klemp; a brother, Vern Frieden; two sisters, Lillian Kimball and Celia Durscher; and a foster sister, Eva Mae Westcott, all of West Union.
