David P. Dawson was born in New
York state, May 11, 1832, and with his
parents moved to Wisconsin in 1844.
He was married to Miss Lydia Spencer
in 1856 and moved-to Iowa in 1863,living
on his farm in Smithfieid. township
until 1900 when he moved to
Maynard. He died November 21, 1905
aged 83 years. He had been gradually
failing for the past year, and death
came as a happy release from suffering.
The funeral services were held
at the Presbyterian church on Thursday,
Rev. Moody, of Oelwein officiating.
His wife and five children are
left to mourn the loss of a devoted
husband and father, and were all present
at the funeral. Fred, of Ocheyedan.
John and wife, of Masonville,
Bert, of Waterloo, and the daughter.
Miss Corinne at home. Mr. Dawson
was an honest, upright man. a good
friend and neighbor, aud the many
frieuds of the family deeply sympathize
with them in their sorrow.
