Ted Hageman, 78, of St. Lucas, Iowa, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at Wellington Place in Decorah.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by the Rev. David Beckman on Friday, Nov. 13, at St. Luke Catholic Church, St. Lucas.

Interment was in the church cemetery with Jeff Hageman, David Hageman, Steve Hageman, Don Hageman, Jim Menne, Robert Menne, Jason Hageman, and John Hageman as casket bearers.

Arrangements were handled by Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel, in Fort Atkinson.

Theodore Joseph "Ted" Hageman was born July 5, 1931, on the family farm near St. Lucas. He was the oldest son of John and Elizabeth (Jacobs) Hageman.

Ted attended St. Luke's Catholic School in St. Lucas. He later bought the home farm and farmed, along with helping other farmers on their farms. He farmed until the late 1980s and then rented out his land.

Ted was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, where he was a Fourth Degree member.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Ida Hageman in infancy and Agnes (Rinhard) Bottema; and a brother, Leo Hageman, in 1983.

Ted is survived by a brother, Roman (Sharon) Hageman of Postville; a sister, Rita (Joe) Menne of Viroqua, Wis.; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews.
